What you can expect

Therapeutic Relationship.

I dedicate significant and specific attention towards building a therapeutic relationship. We will work from a mindfulness, trauma-informed, evidence-based lens. I care deeply about creating a genuine human connection with my clients that encourages acceptance, growth, and empowerment in a bidirectional manner. I believe in asking my clients to do only what I myself might be willing to do.

Identity exploration & Affirmation.

We all hold unique identities such as race/ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, disability, hearing status, etc. It is critical to understand how the intersection of culture, identity, and systemic factors shape your sense of self and wellbeing. I take responsibility for fostering safety to talk about your lived experiences, and to understand how you fit within your specific communities. Addressing these areas enhances therapy by giving us greater insight into your environment, relationships, and values.

The here & now.

I strive to work from a strength-based, present moment, non-judgmental awareness in order to support you in achieving meaningful behavioral change in your life. Mindfulness has the possibility of allowing us to find self-compassion or compassion towards others at every turn, even in painful experiences.

Try it now….just one breath. Inhale. Exhale.

What did you notice?

Both/And.

It is helpful to emphasize and explore difficult emotions and experiences using a dialectical framework. This both/and perspective often highlights life’s complexities. It appreciates that many differing emotions can exist simultaneously, and mutually exclusive scenarios rarely occur in the realm of feelings. Holding the complexity that comes with being human can feel overwhelming at times, AND it can often enrich your relationships with yourself and others.

Values exploration.

Saying “yes” to life and the pain that comes with simply being human can create meaning in your life that you never imagined was possible. (You might notice your mind saying- “What!? I don’t want to feel pain! I want it to go away!” Simply notice that thought and keep reading.). Have you ever imagined learning to be comfortable being uncomfortable? If you’re curious about this lens, you may have already taken a step towards a meaningful and value-driven life.

Acceptance & bold moves.

My practice is not to “fix” you or erase your difficult emotional experiences. You are enough the way you are and don’t need to solve yourself or your painful internal experiences like a problem. Learning how to compassionately accept who you are in this moment and make a commitment to change and grow is an incredibly courageous step.
